By accessing or using Reciproc8™ ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Community Guidelines, which are part of these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not access or use the Service.
Reciproc8™ is a mobile application and online platform that facilitates skill-sharing and bartering exchanges between members of a local community. Members post what they offer and what they seek, receive suggested matches, message each other, and complete exchanges. Barter Points are an internal unit of account used to facilitate exchanges; they have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for money, and may be adjusted or expired under program rules.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Reciproc8™. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
The Service is currently focused on the New York City community, and joining requires an invitation or claim code. We may expand or limit availability at our discretion. Invitation codes may expire, are non-transferable except as the Service allows, and may not be farmed, resold, or redeemed fraudulently.
You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code sent by text message. By providing your phone number, you consent to receive one-time sign-in codes by SMS. Message and data rates may apply. We do not send marketing text messages. You agree to:
To find your matches, we process the offers and seeks you share, including with AI services acting on our behalf. This processing interprets what you offer and need, compares it with other members, and may evaluate proposed matches for fit before suggesting them. By posting offers and seeks, you direct us to process them this way. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

You may choose to verify your identity by submitting a selfie and a photo of your government-issued ID. These images are compared on our servers in memory only and are never stored; we keep only the verification result. By submitting them, you represent that the documents are yours and authentic. Verification earns a badge on your profile and is not required to use the Service.
Bartering may have tax consequences. Under US federal tax law, the fair market value of goods and services received through barter is generally taxable income. You are solely responsible for determining and meeting your own tax obligations; Reciproc8™ does not provide tax advice. See IRS guidance on bartering income or consult a tax professional.
You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant Reciproc8™ a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, and display your content in connection with operating, providing, and promoting the Service, including processing it with the matching and safety systems described in Sections 5 and 6. Published offers and seeks may appear on the public areas of our website. You are responsible for your content and must have the rights to everything you post.
Members may review each other after completing an exchange. Reviews are attributed to their author by design; anonymous reviews are not supported. Reviews must:

We respect intellectual property rights and expect members to do the same. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to contact@thereciproc8project.com including: identification of the work, the location of the infringing material, your contact information, a statement of good faith belief, a statement of accuracy under penalty of perjury, and your physical or electronic signature. We will remove or disable access to infringing material expeditiously and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
We collect usage analytics linked to your account and crash reports, as described in the Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to this collection. You may receive push notifications (controlled in your device settings) and service emails about your matches and exchanges (each with a one-click unsubscribe).
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Reciproc8™ and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings in the app; deletion is permanent. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for:
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. Reciproc8™ is a platform for members to connect; we do not create or endorse user content, and we are not responsible for the statements, offers, or conduct of any user.
Exchanges arranged through the Service may involve meeting other members in person. You acknowledge that Reciproc8™ does not conduct background checks on members and that you assume all risks arising from in-person interactions with other members. Use the safety practices in the Community Guidelines and your own judgment.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RECIPROC8™ SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING DAMAGES ARISING FROM ANY EXCHANGE OR INTERACTION BETWEEN USERS.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Reciproc8™, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your content, your exchanges with other users, or your violation of these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at contact@thereciproc8project.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute informally. Except for claims that qualify for small claims court, any dispute not resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and Reciproc8™ regarding the Service.
