Getting started

What is Reciproc8?

Reciproc8 is a community barter network. You list what you can offer (skills, services, or things) and what you are seeking, and we match you with neighbors whose offers and needs line up so you can trade without money.

Why do I need a code to join?

We grow through trusted community networks. A referral or community code tells us which community you belong to and keeps the network rooted in real relationships. If you do not have a code yet, you can browse without one and request an invite at www.thereciproc8project.com.

What should I do first?

Add one offer and one ask. The more specific you are, the better your matches. Tap the plus button in the middle of the tab bar to create either one.

What can I offer or ask for?

Skills (like tutoring or bike repair), services (like moving help), and physical items. You can also give things away for free. Anything illegal, unsafe, or against our Community Guidelines is not allowed.

How do I get around the app?

Home shows your matches and anything that needs your attention. Explore is where you browse what neighbors are offering and asking for. The plus button creates a new offer or ask. Exchanges holds your active trades and messages. Me is your profile, wallet, and settings.

Matching

How does matching work?

Our matching engine reads what you offer and what you are seeking, then compares it with everyone else in your community. When two people can help each other, we surface it as a match for both of you.

When will I get my first match?

Matches depend on who else is in your community and what they have listed, so it can take anywhere from hours to a few days. We will notify you the moment we find one. Adding more detail to your offers and asks speeds this up.

Why do I not have any matches yet?

Usually it means the community is still growing or your listings are very specific. Try adding another offer or ask, or broadening how you describe them. Every new neighbor who joins increases everyone's chances.

What if I am not interested in a match?

You can pass on any match. It helps us learn what fits you better, and there is no penalty for passing.

Exchanges and meeting up

How does an exchange work?

Once you match, say hello in the app and agree on the details: what you are trading, when, and where. Then meet up (or connect remotely for things like lessons), make the trade, and confirm it in the app.

Is it safe to meet someone from the app?

Meet in a public place for first exchanges, tell someone where you are going, and keep conversations in the app. Every member joined through a community connection, and reviews from past trades help you know who you are dealing with. If anything feels off, do not go through with it.

What if the other person cancels or does not show up?

Message them first, plans change. If someone repeatedly no-shows or behaves badly, report it from their profile or through Report a concern in Settings so we can look into it.

What happens after we finish a trade?

Confirm the exchange in the app. That settles any credits involved and unlocks reviews, so you can each share how it went. Confirmed exchanges build your reputation in the community.

Do all trades happen in person?

No. Plenty of trades work remotely, like language practice, tutoring, design help, or advice calls. You and your match decide what works.

Credits and wallet

What are credits?

Credits are the community's way of keeping one-sided trades fair. When you give something without receiving in the same exchange, you earn credits. You can spend them later when a neighbor helps you.

Do I start with any credits?

Yes. New members receive starter credits when they join, so your first trade is on us.

Do I always need credits to trade?

No. If you and your match trade directly with each other in one exchange, no credits are needed. Credits come in when the trade is one-sided.

Where do I see my balance?

Go to the Me tab and open Wallet. It shows your current balance and your past activity.

What are vouchers?

Vouchers are credit grants from community events and partners, like repair events. When you receive one, it shows up in your wallet.

Account and safety

How do reviews work?

After an exchange is confirmed, both people can leave a review. Reviews appear on your profile and help neighbors decide who to trade with. Honest, specific reviews keep the community trustworthy.

How do I block or report someone?

You can block a member from their profile, and manage who you have blocked under Settings, Blocked neighbors. To report a serious concern, use Report a concern in Settings and our team will follow up.

What can other members see about me?

Your profile name, photo, bio, your listings, and your reviews. Your phone number and contact details are never shown. Conversations happen inside the app.

What is my phone number used for?

Signing in. We use it to verify it is really you, and we never show it to other members.

How do I change or delete my account?

You can edit your profile anytime from the Me tab. To permanently delete your account, open Settings, tap Terms & privacy, and choose Delete Account (on the web, use the account section of your profile). Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
